Wamik’s family rejects ex-gratia offered by J-K govt

Rejecting the ex-gratia relief offered by J-K govt,family of 13-year-old Wamik Farooq,who was killed in police action on Sunday,demanded stern action against guilty policeman.

Rejecting the ex-gratia relief offered by Jammu and Kashmir government,family of 13-year-old Wamik Farooq,who was killed in police action on Sunday,On Thursday demanded stern action against guilty policeman.

“Srinagar Deputy Commissioner offered Rs two lakh and employment to one of the family members as ex-gratia relief. We rejected the offer and told them that I will not sell the blood of my son,” Firdousa,mother of Wamik,said.

“We will get justice only when killers of my son are hanged,” she said,adding that deputy commissioner called them thrice since the death of Wamik,who succumbed to injuries after a tear gas shell hit his head.

“My son didn’t carry gun or bomb or even a stone in his hand. He had a cricket ball in his pocket when police fired teargas shell at him. He was deliberately targeted,” Firdousa alleged.

An Assistance Sub-Inspector of Police,who had lobbed the tear gas squib,has already been placed under suspension on grounds of negligence and carelessness pending an inquiry.
