A Shimla court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Vikramaditya Singh, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son and state youth congress president, in the case relating to violence at the BJP office.
Earlier, Vikramaditya Singh was given only interim anticipatory bail till Monday and directions were issued to the police to present its status report relating to the case registered at Boileu Ganj police station.
The police report claimed that there was no direct evidence against the youth congress leader about his role in the violence or clashes.
Singh claimed that he had led a peaceful protest against centre’s land acquisition ordinance on the call given by the All India Youth Congress and he had informed the BJP’s top leadership about the call.
The BJP, on the other hand, had accused the youth congress of engineering an attack at the party office where Singh was present.
The BJP approached the Governor Kalyan Singh seeking a CBI probe or an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge. The Chief Minister, however, rejected a CBI probe.
