Sources said that NIA produced Naved before the CJM in the morning, but the latter asked the terrorist to rethink his decision of making a confession statement.
Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Mohammad Naved from Pakistan will record his statement in relation to the terror attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur district before Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunnet Gupta here on Wednesday afternoon.
Naved along with another terrorist Nomen, also from Pakistan, had attacked a BSF convoy killing two jawans and injuring a dozen others at Narsu nullah on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway earlier this month. While Nomen was killed in retaliatory fire by paramilitary personnel, Naved had fled to a nearby village where he held some locals hostage. However, the latter overpowered him and later handed him over to the police.
Sources said that NIA produced Naved before the CJM in the morning, but the latter asked the terrorist to rethink his decision of making a confession statement. The judge asked NIA to produce him before the court at 1 pm.
Earlier on August 24, Naved was produced before the court for recording his statement, but he was later sent to judicial custody till August 26.
After Naved’s apprehension, NIA had obtained his 14 days remand from special judge Y P Kotwal for his custodial interrogation. During questioning, he has made various sensational disclosures about terror camps in Pakistan as also terror network in the state leading to apprehension of some people in the valley.
