Stating that the High Court orders have prevented its personnel from questioning the Tarn Taran girl who was thrashed by policemen and her family to complete its probe against the accused police officials, the Punjab Police has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court demanding modification of the Court orders.
Reprimanding the Punjab Police officials for unabashedly thrashing a girl from Tarn Taran in full public view, the High Court last month had ordered that no police official from Bathinda should go near the girl and her family.
The Punjab Police has now claimed that this order was obstructing it from completing the inquiry against the accused personnel and demanded that the Court modify its order.
The main case, filed by the girl demanding protection from the court, came up for resumed hearing on Wednesday. The application, filed by Punjab Police, was also tagged along. The petition was simply adjourned.
Earlier, the CRPF had moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court last month seeking permission to withdraw the security cover given to the girl who was mercilessly thrashed by Punjab Police officials in Tarn Taran on March 3.
Appearing on behalf of the CRPF,advocate Onkar Singh Batalvi had submitted that the Supreme Court had directed the Chandigarh Administration to provide security to the girl and her family. Batalvi averred that the CRPF security personnel were given to the girl since she had no security but after the recent apex court order, the CRPF security cover was no longer required. The application was taken on record.
