In the run-up to the Lok Sabha and Haryana Vidhan Sabha polls scheduled next year, the Haryana BJP is likely to discuss the prospects of entering into an alliance with the Haryana Janhit Congess (HJC) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

A meeting of the Haryana BJP’s core committee will be chaired by party’s president Rajnath Singh tomorrow.

Political circles were abuzz with speculation that the INLD — the main Opposition party in Haryana — would go in for an alliance with the BJP. However, the BJP had so far not given any such confirmation.

BJP stalwarts including Rajnath and Muktar Abbas Naqvi had met INLD’s chief Om Prakash Chautala in Medanta hospital, where Chautala had heart surgery while on bail. Chautala and various other INLD leaders had been issuing statements that the party would tie up with any party that topples the Congress government in the state or at the Centre. However,INLD leaders have still not given any concrete statement regarding the alliance with former ally BJP.

Rajnath will meet three legislators — Anil Vij (from Ambala Cantonment),BJP state president Ram Bilas Sharma,Captain Abhimanyu — and other senior leaders of the party on Monday.

According to sources,Rajnath will discuss prospects of the party in Haryana apart from alliances with the HJC or INLD.
