The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday said 245 cases have been registered against students ever since the agitation for statehood to Telangana region began in November last year.
Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy,replying to a question by BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy,in the state Assembly,said 194 cases under IPC sections and 51 cases under other preventive sections were registered against students during the agitation between November 29 last year and February 15 this year.
On whether the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram had asked the state government to withdraw all the cases registered against students,the minister said no such communication has been received by the government.
