The body of a 21-year-old engineering student was by the roadside in Greater Noida on Saturday morning. Police suspect Dharmendra was killed in a hit-and-run case. He was a third-year B Tech student at Dehradun Institute of Technology in Knowledge Park.
Dharmendra was from Varanasi and lived in the hostel of the institute.
The body was spotted by college authorities around 6 am. Though the reason for his death is still unconfirmed, the injuries on him are consistent with a hit-and-run case. All his injuries are on the back. The cause of death seems to be excessive bleeding from a wound on the back of the head, presumably from the impact after a vehicle hit him, said a police officer.
Police have registered a case of hit-and-run at the Kasna police station and are investigating all angles.
We have not yet been able to ascertain when the accident took place, therefore,we are looking at other aspects as well, including foul play. His computer and mobile phone have been taken into custody. We are waiting for the post-mortem report, which will make things clearer, the officer said.
