Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday lashed out at the BJP saying his Samajwadi Party has to fight on two fronts — the hidden communal agenda of the saffron party and the capitalist approach of the Nardendra Modi government.
Speaking on the concluding day of the party’s national convention in Lucknow, he said, “On one side is the capitalist approach of Centre and on the other side is the BJP’s hidden communal agenda. It is the responsibility of the SP workers to fight against them.”
The Chief Minister also targeted Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat campaign. “There was no such thing in their (BJP) manifesto like jhadu maarna, cleanliness and linking one particular river Ganga to religion,” he said. He added that cleaning only the Ganga would not serve the purpose as there are other rivers like Chambal, Yamuna which need to be cleaned. “All rivers are socialist and secular as they flow touching every religion and caste. Yamuna is polluted by Delhi,” he said.
“It is also not first time that Delhi has been cleaned. Many political persons had used brooms. Their poll manifesto was only for publicity,” he added.
Akhilesh also warned that the country’s development was not possible without developing UP. “We will support anyone who comes for development of UP. We will demand big projects and if they don’t give, we will protest. Centre has already misled youths on promises of jobs,” he said.
