Shanta urges BJP chief to probe PTU case

Days after various student unions joined over Punjab Technical University’s (PTU) distance education programme students to demand the removal of vice-chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora alleging irregularities,veteran BJP leader Shanta Kumar has written to state party president Kamal Sharma to investigate the matter and take action.

Arora has been accused of indulging in financial irregularity to the tune of Rs 35 crore in connivance with his close aides and friends.

The letter,written on July 17,also has details of the complaints Kumar had received received in this regard. He requested Sharma to get the matter investigated at his own level and then after discussion,take required action against the guilty.

The letter on alleged scams in PTU also included the list of alleged BJP and RSS beneficiaries in the university. Arora,who is reportedly a RSS nominee,has been charged with irregularities in the distance education programme and out of the way allotment of tenders worth Rs 25 crore to BJP and RSS members.
