He said the SAD-BJP alliance had in its election manifesto promised to pay Rs 1,000 per month to every educated unemployed youth. He said that according to the information collected by party workers, more than 65 lakh youth in Punjab were unemployed at present.

Earlier, addressing party workers and leaders Bajwa said the Congress in Punjab was ready to contest Parliament elections of 2014 and thanked everyone for the enthusiasm shown by them during the first two phases of mass contact programme started by him in 117 Assembly constituencies. The meeting passed a resolution thanking Rahul for his stand against the ordinance issued by the Centre to bail out convicted leaders.

Bajwa said that the third phase of Mass Contact Programme would be launched in November.

‘Cong doesn’t respect PM,how can others?’

Punjab minister and Youth Akali Dal president Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday took a dig at AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, saying that when the Congress cannot respect PM Manmohan Singh, how can others be expected to do so. Majithia, who addressed three rallies of YAD in Ludhiana ,termed Rahul’s actions childish. “Your PM is in the US and back in India, you misbehave and insult him by proposing to tear away the ordinance against convicted MPs and MLAs. Is this how you respect your own PM?” he said.
