One killed in parcel bomb blast at JD(U) leader’s house

The Gaya police did not rule out Maoists' involvement in the incident.

The cousin of a JD(U) leader was killed and his brother-in-law injured when they were trying to dispose of a parcel marked to the JD(U) leader on Tuesday morning. The Gaya police did not rule out Maoists’ involvement in the incident.

The incident took place at around 7 pm when Santosh Kumar Kushwaha (25), cousin and security guard of JD(U) Gaya president Abhay Kushwaha, was trying to open a parcel with the help of his brother-in-law Jayhind at the JD(U) leader’s house.

When Santosh saw some wires inside, he got suspicious. Santosh and Jayhind tried to throw the parcel in an open field but it went off, killing Santosh.

Jayhind, who has been admitted to hospital, told police that the parcel had no name on it.
