“We think the continuation of this process is important also for de-escalation of tensions that are being built up,” says Sitaram Yechury.As tension between India and Pakistan builds up ahead of the NSA-level talks scheduled for the weekend, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) insisted the talks continue.

“CPM has consistently maintained that the process of dialogue with Pakistan should continue. We think the continuation of this process is important also for de-escalation of tensions that are being built up. Such talks with separatist outfits in Kashmir have been held by Pakistani embassy officials for many years now,” CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said. He claimed “everyone knows” that talks between Pakistan and separatist leaders could not have taken place in the past “without Indian government’s sanction”.
