Sandhya Kupekar of NCP won Thursday the Chandgad assembly seat in Kolhapur district in a bypoll by 24,847 votes. The bypoll on February 24 was necessitated by the death of sitting NCP MLA Babasaheb Kupekar in September last year. There were only three candidates in fray. Sandhya,wife of Babasaheb,defeated nearest rival Rajendra Gaddyanwar of Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathana. She polled 93,486 votes,while Gaddyanwar got 68,639.
