Kaushik Bora, an executive director at the Digboi refinery of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), who had gone missing on Sunday, was rescued by the police from inside the Upper Dihing reserve forest on Sunday. Bora was located about two kms deep inside the forest from the spot where his personal car was found on the Digboi-Pengeri-Bordumsa Road, Tinsukia district SP Akhilesh Kumar Singh said. “Bora was lying in an unconscious state inside the forest, but we have not found any link to any abduction as suspected earlier,” Singh said. The SP said Bora was admitted to the Digboi Refinery hospital after being rescued during a search operation launched in the forest for nearly 20 hours. His mobile phone however was missing. “He was bitten by leeches and other insects too,” the SP said. Bora, the SP said, had reportedly suffered from depression in the past few weeks and had also undergone a check-up at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi recently. The officer, who had gone out of his residence in his personal car at around 10:30 AM yesterday, was reported missing by his family at around 4 PM. His car was later found parked near a forest on the Digboi-Pengeri-Bordumsa Road about 10 kms away from Digboi town.
