After announcing that he will provide point-to-point rebuttal to the allegations levelled by his former aide Arunjot Sodhi,PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal on Thursday let his close lieutenants dismiss Sodhis comments as rants of an employee who was sent home a fortnight ago.
Claiming that a meeting of party central committee and district presidents was held on Thursday,PPP leaders Gurpreet Singh Bhatti,Bhawant Mann and Kuldip Singh Dhose stated that Sodhis wild allegations are an outcome of parting of ways.
Sodhi had been asked by PPP president Manpreet Badal not to report to office a fortnight ago, following some serious complaints and suspicious activity. Manpreet Badal confronted him with serious complaints, which were violative of party discipline. He elaborated on Sodhis surreptitious and suspicious activities, which were surreptitiously harming the party, a statement said.
Reacting to allegations of misuse of party funds levelled by Sodhi against Manpreet, the leaders said it is surprising that Sodhi had himself written to NRIs,informing them that PPP will not collect any money or donations. They were told that it was against the law in India to collect party funds from abroad. However, the same Sodhi is now issuing statements, which go against his own letters.
Manpreet in fact spent money from his own pocket to support the party and its candidates. The fact that Manpreet Badal took loans to repair his own house (which was after his departure from the SAD and much before the North America visit) and to purchase vehicles is evident from bank records and is testimony to his clean public life. Manpreets honesty is what is irritating the Akali Dal, the statement added.
Claiming that Sodhis sacking was evident from the messages sent by Sodhi to the PPP president, the leaders said they are testimony to his having been asked to stop working. Those behind Sodhis allegations will provide him with a new job and rehabilitate him suitably. The PPP remains committed to maintain decorum and decency in public life and would not stoop to low levels in political discourse, said the statement.
