Man arrested for raping daughter

A man,accused of repeatedly raping his teenaged daughter and confining her for three days at their residence in a city suburb,has been arrested,police said .

Mohammed Chaudhary,a diploma holder in medical laboratory technology who runs a pathology testing centre in Bainganwadi,was arrested from near his residence in Govandi on Wednesday after his wife complained to police alleging rape of their daughter.

According to the police,Chaudhary had first sexually assaulted his 14-year-old daughter on January 21 when his wife was at the lab,and their two sons,aged 10 and 15,had gone to school.

Finding something amiss,the complainant asked her daughter what had happened following which the victim disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by her father,said D Jodgurari,Senior Inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station.

When the shocked woman confronted her husband,he denied the charge and beat her up. Chaudhary also confined the victim for three days and repeatedly raped her,police said.

The complainant remained silent about the incident for three days fearing social stigma but reported the matter to police after discussing it with close relatives.
