Sources say that the Centre is yet to respond to his letter.

Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, who contested on a BJP ticket from Srinagar in the LS elections, had written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh last week seeking security cover claiming that the threat perception on his life has increased since then.

“Since I had been given mandate by the BJP leadership under Narendra Modi to contest from Srinagar…the threat perception on my life has increased…It is unfortunate that I have been treated like other insignificant candidates,” Bhat wrote. “The SSP Budgam has withdrawn my security guard from my residence and office. It is requested that my security should be enhanced and residential guard should be deputed again,” he added.

“By not providing security, they (police) want to demoralise me so that I leave the party,” he said. “The SP categorically told me that he has orders from the top not to provide me security.”

Sources say that the Centre is yet to respond to his letter.
