IIT-GN BoG approves incentive scheme for faculty

The newly constituted Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Technology,Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) approved all the incentive schemes for faculty recruitment.

The newly constituted Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Technology,Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) which met here today for the first time approved all the incentive schemes for faculty recruitment,retention and mentoring to achieve academic excellence.

“The BoG has approved all the improved incentive schemes in regards to payments made to faculty over and above the salary drawn by them,” Director IIT-GN Prof. S K Jain said.

In order to become a world class institution IIT-GN can now pay any amount to its faculty on top of the salaries drawn by them from the funds coming through donations or other resources such as creation of chairs,he added.

The BoG has also assured to support the institute in all its endeavours in pursuit to excellence,Jain said.

The IIT-GN Board of Governors (BoG) is chaired by National Innovation Foundation chairman Dr R A Mashelkar,and has industrialists and bureaucrats including Chairman of Ambuja Cement Suresh Neotia,Chairman and Managing Director Moser Baer India Deepak Puri,Group Chairman Religare & Fortis Healthcare Malvinder Mohan Singh as its members.

Chief Secretary Gujarat Dr D Rajagopalan and Additional Secretary,Higher Education in Ministry of Human Resource Development,GoI Ashok Thakur are also members of the newly constituted board.
