HC asks Maha to file reply on bullet-proof jacket bungle

The Bombay High Court today directed the Maharashtra government to file a reply to a PIL alleging corruption in purchase of bullet-proof jackets for Mumbai police.

Petitioner’s advocate Y P Singh,a former IPS officer,argued because of faulty jackets,former ATS chief Hemant Karkare died during the 26/11 terror attacks.

Singh said post-mortem report reveals that Karkare was shot in the shoulder area,which wasn’t covered by the jacket he was wearing.

The division bench headed by Justice J N Patel directed the government to file a reply before January 14.
