Harmukh Gangbal yatra to start from June 20 in Kashmir

The high altitude Harmukh (Kailash) Gangbal yatra will commence from Jammu on June 20,an organisation advocating cause of displaced Kashmiri Pandits said.

The high altitude Harmukh (Kailash) Gangbal yatra will commence from Jammu on June 20,an organisation advocating cause of displaced Kashmiri Pandits said on Monday.

“The second Marmukh (Kailash) Gangbal Yatra would start from Jammu on June 20. From the base camp Narannag (Kangan) in central Kashmir,foot yatra will commence on June 21 to Harmukh Gangbal Lake shrine,” All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) Chairman Vinood Pandit told reporters here today.

APMCC had last year conducted the high altitude about 15,000 feet Harmukh Gangbal lake shrine after over 100 years and performed a vedic yagyna.

“The Yagyna (hawan) will be done on June 22,2010,on the bank of 14000 feet high Gangbal lake and the return journey to NaraanNaag would begin on June 23,” Pandit said.

The committee has also decided to explore the possibility of using the traditional route of Chittar this year so that devotees can pay obeisance at SukhNaag and DukhNaag on the way to Harmukt Ganga.
