Gujarat: Three die inside safety tank of a drainage line in Jamnagar

A fire brigade team recovered the bodies which were sent for postmortem by the local police.

In a bid to save the life of a sanitation worker who had entered in a safety tank of a drainage line, three people died, while one is critical, after they entered the tank near Valkeswari Society in Jamnagar city on Thursday, officials said.

“A sanitation worker, entered the safety tank of a drainage line near Hotel Atithya at Valeswari Society in Jamnagar, but he did not come out after a long time.

Later, three brothers, who are owners of Hotel Atithya, entered the safety tank to save him, but two of them and the worker died inside it while one is critical due to asphyxiation,” Chief Fire Officer K K Bishnoi of Jamnagar city said.

The sanitation worker was identified as Nilesh Savji Narola (35), while the two brothers were identified as Anil Samjibhai Thanki (40) and his elder brother Jitu Thanki (42), Bishnoi said.

Ishwar Samji Thanki (45), eldest brother of Jitu and Anil, was critical and is being treated at Guru Govindsingh (GGS) hospital in Jamnagar city, Bishnoi said.
