Graft complaints piling up against its MLA, SP puts up drop box at office

The CM’s office has directed the local administration to probe the charges.

Following allegations about a party MLA demanding money for jobs, the SP has placed a box at its district office in Sambhal with a notice to drop complaints about any party leader or worker offering a government job or any other favour for money.

The move comes after CM Akhilesh Yadav’s office received two complaints against party MLA from reserved Chandausi seat in Moradabad, Lakshmi Gautam, accusing her of taking money assuring job.

The CM’s office has directed the local administration to probe the charges. “We have installed a complaint box with a notice for people to drop complaints if any party leader, including MLA Lakshmi Gautam, had taken money for a job or for some other favour,” Feroz Khan, Sambhal district SP president, said. He said he will “personally” probe all the complaints. “Gautam claimed the money was taken by her former husband,” he added.

The first complaint came to light last week when one Rajendra Kumar alleged he had given Rs 3 lakh to Gautam for securing a teacher’s job. Three days later, one Jagat Singh accused the MLA of taking Rs 38,000.
