Gadchiroli cops neutralise IED

The Naxals had exposed a small part of the wire, anticipating that we will remove it.

The Gadchiroli police neutralised a powerful IED in Kasansur village of Etapalli tehsil Tuesday.

SP Suvez Haq said, “While a five kg bomb was neutralised Tuesday, we continued the operation till late Wednesday evening as there were reports of more bombs being planted in surrounding areas, though none were found.”

H e said, “The explosive was planted near the forest department office. The Naxals had exposed a small part of the wire, anticipating that we will remove it. The connection was made in such a way that the blast could be triggered the moment we removed the wire.”

Meanwhile, the Aheri sessions court will pronounce the order on arrested DU professor G N Saibaba’s bail plea Thursday. Saibaba’s lawyer Surendra Gadling said all allegations against Saibaba were baseless and fake. But police said they have material to establish Saibaba’s Maoists connections.
