Bringing to fore the party’s alleged links with criminal gangs, a CPM delegation led by politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Saturday met the seven-member killer group convicted in the murder of party rebel leader T P Chandrasekharan. The visit to Central prison in Thissur came after the complaint from the convicts that they were tortured by jail wardens. On Saturday, Balakrishnan, party Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan and other leaders visited the convicted supari team, saying this was a party decision. Chandrasekharan’s widow Rama said the CPM fears the criminals would divulge details about the involvement of senior leaders.
