As Pakistan called off the NSA-level talks on Saturday, the opposition Congress targeted the government, saying it was the failure of its foreign policy.
“Cancellation of NSA level talks reflects the Modi government’s foreign policy failure which truly is much ado about nothing. ‘Confusion’, ‘consternation’ and ‘casual callousness’ are the three Cs of Modi government’s foreign policy, which lacks both maturity and vision,” said Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala.

He said it was time Prime Minister Narendra Modi “rise above pure rhetoric and address the issues of internal and external terrorism whose focal points lie in Pakistan”. “India awaits a decisive and cohesive enunciation of a mature foreign policy that takes care of our strategic concerns, security issues and peaceful bilateral relationship,” he said.
Earlier the party had asked the government not to accept Pakistan’s conditions. “…until it is absolutely sure that the right conditions prevail and the guarantees have been given which will be honoured, they must not take this forward,” said Congress leader Anand Sharma.
