Claiming that BJP’s PM candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had an “anti-women attitude”, the Congress Monday said people like Sri Rama Sene founder Pramod Muttalik were the “real face” of the BJP.
Taking a dig at the slogan ‘Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi’, Congress spokesperson Shobha Ojha said, “I want to ask women — mothers, daughters, wives of this country — if they would want a personality like Modi in theirs homes, who is known for his anti-women attitude and who is yet to answer for ‘Snoopgate’. Modi is known for his communal activities, whether it is in Gujarat or in encouraging people who have been involved in communal riots in Muzaffarnagar….”
Ojha said Modi had not been accountable to women either in his “private life or public life”.
Attacking the party for bringing Muttalik, linked to attack on women at a pub in Mangalore in 2009, into the party and within hours setting aside the decision, Ojha said, “Personalities like Muttalik were the real face of the BJP.
The reality of the BJP is that people like Muttalik are linked to it and encouraged by the party…his inclusion clearly shows the BJP’s anti-women ideology,” she said, adding that the U-turn on his indictment was merely a “mask” the party was putting on.
