AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday accused the BJP of having links with the banned ULFA.

Asked to comment on the alleged Congress-ULFA link,Singh claimed it was the BJP which has links with the banned outfit.

On the recent peace initiative with the ULFA,Singh, who is in charge of the party in Assam, hoped that the organisation’s elusive commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah, known for his anti-talk stand, will come out of hiding for negotiations.

BJP national spokesman Prakash Javadekar denied Singh’s charge by alleging that the Congress was trying to win the ensuing assembly election through the support of the ULFA.

On the dissidence among the party’s seat seekers, the AICC leader said there was bound to be some anger among the hopefuls.

“All are our political workers and we will talk to them and convince them. More than 1200 candidates had applied for tickets and it is not possible to accommodate all of them,” Singh said.

The party has announced names of candidates in 124 constituencies while the remaining two will be decided in a day or two,he said.
