Al-Badr ultra involved in police camp attack arrested

J-K Police said that it has arrested a commander of Al-Badr outfit allegedly involved in the last month's grenade attack on a police camp in Shopian district.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday it has arrested a commander of Al-Badr outfit allegedly involved in the last month’s grenade attack on a police camp in Shopian district.

Al-Badr commander for Kashmir province Zeenat-ul-Islam Shah alias Zahid arrested over the July 21 grenade attack was also allegedly responsbile for killing of two policemen at Surigam in Kupwara on April 4 last year and beheading of a forest guard in Rajwara forest on May 14.

“Police have succeeded in solving the grenade attack case of Imam Sahab Police camp on July 21 with the arrest of al-badr commander for Kashmir province Zeenat-ul-Islam Shah alias Zahid,” DIG (Central Kashmir) H K Lohia told reporters in Srinagar.

A sub inspector and a constable were killed and several others injured in the grenade attack at Imam Sahib,52 kms from Srinagar.

Shah of Malnad Sugan village of Shopian,was arrested during a raid in Sopore last week. An AK 47 rifle,three magazines,90 rounds,an under barrel grenade launcher with four grenades and a chinese hand grenade were recovered from his hideout.
