Senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar on Wednesday said he will not fight any election — either Assembly or Lok Sabha.

On the occasion of his 79th birthday,which he celebrated at his hometown Palampur,Kumar reiterated his resolve to never compromise with corruption and continue to maintain high standards of public life irrespective of criticism from his own party leaders,including those who had recently quit the BJP.

He however,said that he will play a crucial role the in selection of “winning” candidates in Kangra and Chamba districts for the forthcoming Assembly polls and ensure that the BJP forms the next government in the state.

“I have spent more than 50 years in public life and set my own principles,keeping my commitments against corruption as a guiding force. I had never compromised with corruption before and will not do any compromise in the future,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons,Shanta regretted that some BJP leaders had left the party and formed a new political outfit,but added that some of these leaders had made valuable contribution to the party. He also predicted the return of NDA to power at the Centre in view of “largescale” corruption in the UPA.
