Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Vinod Tawde has threatened to stall construction of the Lendhi dam in the tribal taluka of Jawhar unless the state government meets demands of those affected by the project.
While touring tribal talukas of the district on Thursday evening,he said he would take up the issue on priority in the winter session of the legislature.
Work on the dam at Hiradpada began three years ago and is nearing completion.
Tawde alleged the state government went ahead with the construction without properly rehabilitating those affected. He said he would not allow the pending work on the dam till the affected were rehabilitated and duly compensated.
