Minority report author seeks white paper

Justice (retd) Rajinder Sachar on Monday said that the union government should come out with a white paper on the present condition of the Muslim community,and on the measures it has taken to improve their situation since a committee headed by him submitted its report. Sachar was speaking at a function organised by the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society in the city. The Sachar panel,which was set up to study the social,economic and educational status of Muslims in India,submitted its report in November 2006. Sachar said that the huge tracts of land lying unused with Waqf Boards should be used for educational purposes.
