A scuffle between the owners of a dhaba in Harike and two customers on Tuesday night turned ugly with the owners,along with others,barging into the house of the man they had a dispute with and shooting him dead at Marhana village in Tarn Taran district on Wednesday.
The police have registered a case of murder against Baaj Singh,Harjeet Singh,Gurpreet Singh,Harpreet Singh,Gulab Singh and five unidentified persons for the murder of Gurwinder Singh (42). The deceased had gone to Zimidara dhaba,along another Gurwinder Singh,on Tuesday for dinner.
Gurwinders friend forgot his spectacles at the dhaba. When they returned,the dhaba owners said to be in an inebriated state told them that they were not there to take care of their belongings and an altercation followed. The two finally left after getting the glasses, said Harike SHO Sawinder Singh.
Baaj Singh felt humiliated. He and his son-in-law Harjit Singh,along with others,armed with weapons,entered Gurwinders house. While the accused shot Gurwinder,another person tried to attack him with a sword. His son tried to save his father and sustained injury on his hand, the SHO said.
Gurwinder later died in the hospital, he added.
