Ex-serviceman sends legal notice to Kanhaiya Kumar for anti-military remarks

The veteran sent a legal notice to the JNU leader for his comments against Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and security forces on March 8.

JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar was Sunday sent a legal notice by an ex-serviceman here for allegedly speaking against security forces during an event on International Women’s Day.

Advocate Vishav Chakshu said his client, Kehan Singh Thakur, a retired Subedar of village Dalah in Mandi district, has sent a legal notice to the JNU leader for his comments against Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and security forces on March 8.

“We will raise our voice against AFSPA. While we have a lot of respect for our soldiers, we will talk about the fact that in Kashmir women are raped by security personnel,” Thakur quoted Kumar as saying as per media reports.

Thakur alleged that the JNU leader made similar remarks about security forces deployed in Rwanda, Africa and Gujarat, where he said the women were not just killed but raped first.
