With Congress and the Left continuing to oppose the GST Bill, the government on Sunday appealed to the Opposition to cooperate to pass the proposed legislation in Parliament but remained non-committal on the issue of convening a special session for it.

“I appeal to the opposition to cooperate so that we can pass the GST Bill in Parliament,” Home Minister Rajnath Singh he told PTI in New Delhi.

Asked whether the government will convene a special session to adopt the legislation, Singh, who heads the Cabinet Committed on Political Affairs, said nothing can be ruled out.

The Home Minister said when the GST Bill is passed in Parliament, the country’s economy will get a boost.

The GST Bill has been passed by Lok Sabha but Rajya Sabha is yet to pass as Congress, Left parties and AIADMK have been opposing it. These parties want changes in the bill.
