He also issued a statement in the evening accusing the Centre of ignoring farmers’ genuine demands, leaving them to languish on the roads instead of addressing their grievances. Sandhwan emphasised that the Centre must take decisive action to resolve the issues without unnecessary delays.
Sarwan Singh Pandher of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) Monday announced that there will be no Dilli Chalo march by farmers on Tuesday, in view of the Haryana Government’s promise to resolve the farmers’ issues through talks. After considering all the aspects, Pandher said, the farmers’ leaders will decide the next course of action this afternoon.

What has happened so far? Two days earlier, the Dilli Chalo march was suspended following tear gas shelling. After the farmers started the foot march on Saturday, they were halted by the multilayered barricading erected by the Haryana Police. Following this, tear gas shells were lobbed and water cannons were aimed towards the farmers to disperse them, injuring five protestors. As many as 101 farmers from Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and SKM groups are among the protesters.
