Tripura Government has prohibited private tuition by school teachers following instructions from the Centre to implement the Right to Free and Compulsory Education of Children Act,2009.
If any government teacher is found involved in private tuition stern action will be initiated against him,a circular issued by the government on Saturday said.
The penal provisions against the erring teachers were yet to be finalized but it is likely that the teacher would be transferred from his current place of posting forthwith,Director of School Education S Das told reporters.
“The practice of private tuition hurts those students aspiring for learning through regular schooling,since the teachers concerned fail to devote their full energy to class work”,the notification said.
The circular was issued following a report published by an NGO that put the status of paid tuition in the state at 77.3 per cent.
