Slamming the state government over the opening of private universities, the CPM has asked the Dhumal government to immediately scrap Manav Bharti University and stop unbridled opening of more such universities in the state.

While releasing copies of the letter,Tikender Singh Panwar — member of the CPM state secretariat — said its stand on the university has been vindicated following revelation made by the inquiry team of the education department.

The inquiry had found that the university admitted students in the language teacher course even before it was established. “It speaks volumes of the connivance of the university and government officials,” he alleged. Panwar said it was strange and shocking that though the university came into being on November 3,2009,the admissions were held in September 2009.

The CPM also slammed the government for keeping a blind eye towards the courses being advertised by the university, though the same were not approved by the competent authorities. It has asked the Regulatory Commission to forfeit the security amount of Rs 3 crore and scrap the Manav Bharti University Act and simultaneously initiate proceedings to acquire the land for the state.
