Anglia Ruskin University,Galgotias announce tie up for engg course

Tie-up will to make accredited engineering UG programme accessible to more Indian students.

Anglia Ruskin University UK (ARU) have announced a new arrangement in collaboration with Galgotias University in Greater Noida, which will to make an accredited engineering undergraduate programme accessible to more Indian students.

As per the arrangement, students will study a three-years B Tech Civil Engineering programme at Galgotias University and transfer to the third year of a BEng Civil Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK.

”While a three-year undergraduate degree course from a UK university can cost between Rs 48-59 lakh, which includes tuition fees, accommodation and subsistence, under the ARU-Galgotias agreement a student can study the third year of his or her course at around Rs 14 lakh at ARU,” said Professor Michael Thorne,Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University.

On successful completion of the third year,ARU will award them a BEng Civil Engineering, which will immediately give them Incorporated Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers, the association which qualifies professionals engaged in civil engineering,Thorne added.

This means that students can work towards chartered status at one-third of the cost – the cost for completing the third year at ARU. Students can then go on to achieve full chartered status by completing a relevant postgraduate programme.

Over the last three years 2009-2012,approximately 3000-4500 Indian Engineers enrolled at Universities in the United Kingdom to study postgraduate programmes each year. However, very few of them succeed in gaining work experience related to engineering in the UK. One of the ways of improving their chances to do this is to gain ‘Chartered Engineer’ status.

”An essential requirement for this is that they should have an undergraduate qualification from an institution that is accredited by one of the accrediting bodies,” said Thorne.
