ECI to release draft rolls for Kerala, MP, Chhattisgarh, Andamans: The Election Commission of India (ECI) earlier revised the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, fixing January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, following requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers.

What is the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)?

The SIR is a door-to-door and document-based exercise conducted by the ECI to update electoral rolls. It aims to:

  1. include eligible voters who are missing from the rolls,
  2. remove duplicate or ineligible entries, and
  3. correct errors in existing voter details.

The final electoral rolls prepared after this process will be published in February 2026.

Revised dates for Kerala, MP, Chhattisgarh and Andamans

As per the latest schedule:

Last date of enumeration: December 18, 2025

Date of publication of draft electoral rolls: December 23, 2025

These dates apply uniformly to Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Commission said.

Under the earlier revised schedule, enumeration was to end on December 11 and draft rolls were to be published on December 16.

The draft electoral roll is a provisional list. Voters must ensure to:

  1. Check whether their names appear correctly,
  2. Verify personal details such as age, address and spelling, and
  3. Ensure that eligible family members are included.

Any necessary corrections or inclusions can be pursued during the claims and objections stage after the draft roll is published, as per ECI procedures.
