EC removes three observers for ‘misconduct’

The officers removed are IAS officers Laltinkhuma Franklin and Udaya Narayan Das, and an IRS officer Gaurav Awasthi, officials said.

The Election Commission on Friday removed two general observers and one expenditure observer deployed for the Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram Assembly elections for alleged misconduct, an EC source said.

The officers removed are IAS officers Laltinkhuma Franklin and Udaya Narayan Das, and an IRS officer Gaurav Awasthi, officials said.

MP polls and second phase for Chhattisgarh and are to be held on November 17, while Mizoram polls were held on Nov 7.
