Three Indian Navy personnel and one civilian have been arrested and booked for the molestation and rape of a minor girl, a defence spokesperson said on Monday.

While two sailors have already been handed over to Mumbai police for investigation, the third who is presently out of the city on duty has been recalled and ordered to return to face the law.

The fourth accused is a civilian, an employee of the Military Engineer Services, who has also been arrested.

The move follows a complaint by the girl’s father who complained to police on Sunday against the four for molesting and raping his minor daughter over the past few months.

The INS Kunjali’s Naval Provost Marshal and the Western Naval Command are extending full cooperation to police for investigating the matter.

“This is absolutely unacceptable and we have shown no leniency. We immediately informed police and handed over the accused,” an official said.
