Muzaffarnagar riots: 14 police outposts set up in affected areas,plans on for 33 more

The death toll has climbed to 49,making it one of the worst communal riots in recent times.

Gearing up security arrangements in wake of the riots at Muzaffarnagar,district authorities have set up 14 police outposts in the worst affected areas,even as they said the toll in the violence has climbed to 49.

Additional District Magistrate Inder Mani Tripathi said 49 persons lost their lives,12 persons were reported missing and more than eight religious places were damaged in the communal violence in the district.

The district authorities have decided to set up at least 33 more police outposts in areas of the district affected by the communal violence.

“The administration has already opened 14 police outposts in worst riot-affected villages out of 47 to seek confidence of victims,” state DGP Deve Raj Nagar told reporters.

A sub-inspector,a head constable,six constables and a platoon of paramilitary force have been posted in each police outpost,he said.

Police outposts have been established in Sisoli (BKU headquarters),Bhora Kala,Bhorakhurd,Hadoli,Mudhbhar,Gharinoabad,Mohd Raisingh,Shikherpur,Bhaju,Choonsa,Mohdpur,Purbaliyan,Jiwana and Lachera in the district.
