Days after the Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed three anticipatory bail petitions filed by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, his family, including his son Lokesh Nara and wife Nara Bhuvaneswari alleged that there was an immediate threat to the former CM’s life, citing administrative failure to provide adequate and sanitary prison conditions.
Chandrababu Naidu has been in judicial custody, lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail, since his arrest a month ago.
“There is an undeniable and immediate threat to CBN’s life. He is being deliberately harmed. His safety is unquestionably at risk,” his son Lokesh wrote in a post on X, adding that if any harm befalls his father, Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will be help responsible.

The former CM’s wife, Nara Bhuvaneswari wrote: “I am deeply concerned for my husband’s well-being, as the Govt of Andhra Pradesh has failed to provide him with the timely medical care he urgently needs while he remains in prison. He has already lost 5 kg weight, and any further weight loss could have severe consequences for his kidneys. The overhead water tanks are unsanitary and pose a serious health risk.”

Naidu was arrested by the state CID early on September 9 in connection with the alleged multi-crore AP State Skill Development Corporation scam during his tenure in 2014-15. The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada had sent Naidu to 14-day judicial custody on September 10. After the court order, he was shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail, 200 km from Vijayawada.
The AP CID is also seeking to interrogate Naidu over alleged irregularities in the construction of Amaravati’s Inner Ring Road, and an alleged scam in AP Fibernet Limited during the TDP regim, with the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government claiming that Naidu rejigged the original design of the road to increase the value of lands owned by TDP leaders there.
