The events come days after Jayant was denied a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Hazaribagh, which goes to polls on May 20. BJP MLA Manish Jaiswal will now contest from Hazaribagh against Congress’s Jai Prakash Bhai Patel.
This is the first time since 1998 that no member of Yashwant Sinha’s family is contesting the elections from Hazaribagh. “This is why one of the family members has joined Congress to pull the traditional vote bank of Yashwant Sinha,” a Congress source said.
“Jayant Sinha’s son Aashir Sinha will be part of Jharkhand Congress and he will be given some role. As of now, it is not decided yet,” Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha told The Indian Express.
“There is no problem for us whoever joins Congress from Hazaribagh. We will win the seat,” BJP spokesperson Vinay Kumar said.
