However, bank branch closures might differ by state, as bank holidays in India vary based on regional festivals and scheduled and unscheduled holidays.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sets bank holidays as part of the yearly holiday calendar under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which oversees the issue of cheques and promissory notes.
Due to these holidays, transactions involving such instruments will be unavailable. Customers can expect to have a long weekend off, and we will detail when banks close across all states in the country.
Banks in Jammu and Kashmir are expected to have extended holidays this week, beginning today with Shab-I-Qadr on Thursday, March 27, and continuing through Friday Jumat prayers on March 28, Sunday weekly off on March 30, and Ramzan Eid on March 31.
