The Kerala High Court on Monday dismissed a plea by the survivor of a 2017 abduction and assault seeking a fresh fact finding probe into alleged unauthorised access to a memory card that purportedly contains visuals of the assault. Actor Dileep is one of the accused in the case. The incident led to outrage within and outside the film industry and led to the formation of the Hema Committee to look into the issues faced by women working in Malayalam cinema. The HC had earlier directed the district and sessions court in Ernakulam to conduct a probe into allegations of unauthorised access of the memory card that had been in their custody. Early this year, the survivor approached the HC seeking a fresh fact finding probe into the alleged unauthorised access of the visuals of the assault. She said her interests were not protected and that the illegal access amounted to a violation of her fundamental rights.
