Along similar lines, Krishna Byre Gowda, the Revenue Minister of Karnataka, inaugurated this online registration facility at the Malleswaram sub-registrar office in Bengaluru on February 15, Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Gowda highlighted the convenience this new system offers. He emphasised that individuals no longer need to physically visit the sub-registrar’s office to register their marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act.

For individuals who prefer offline registration or are unwilling to provide Aadhaar authentication, the option to register at the sub-registrar’s office will remain available.
In addition to facilitating registrations under the Hindu Marriage Act, the state has also introduced an online application process for marriages falling under the purview of the Special Marriage Act of 1954.
However, this option is not available for those who choose to have a registered marriage under the Special Marriage Karnataka Rules, 1961, and the rule requires a one-month notice and both the bride and groom’s presence before the sub-registrar.
