As expected, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s debut directorial venture, The Ba***ds of Bollywood has become a hot topic in the industry, with many praising the streaming series for its satirical take on show business, celebrities, and vanity culture. Featuring the who’s who of Bollywood — playing key roles or cameo parts — the show has already grabbed the attention of audiences worldwide and has been staying strong in the rankings of streaming giant Netflix.
According to the cinema analytics website FlixPatrol, The Ba***ds of Bollywood ranked ninth on the list of top TV shows on Netflix on Monday, climbing one spot from Sunday’s chart. While the Spanish thriller Billionaires’ Bunker clinched the top position, the South Korean fantasy romantic drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty came in second.
It also emerged as the top show in seven countries across the globe. Besides India, the Aryan Khan directorial was the most-watched Netflix show in Bangladesh, the Maldives, Mauritius, Oman, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday. In India, the show has been topping the viewership charts ever since its release on Thursday, September 18. The show is also performing well in countries like Australia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Sri Lanka.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood has consistently made it to Netflix’s top 10 for days in a row, with an average of 142 points per day. The show registered its best performance on Saturday when it earned 161 points. Points for rankings on FlixPatrol are calculated based on chart position. A title earns 10 points for being in the top spot, while it receives one point if it ranks tenth.
According to Ormax Media, The Ba***ds of Bollywood was the most-watched streaming original in India last week, registering a total of 4.5 million views, which was significantly higher than the number recorded by Kajol’s The Trial (2.5 million), which came second on the list.
Starring Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Vijayant Kohli, Manish Chaudhari, Rajat Bedi, and Gautami Kapoor in key roles, the show also features cameo appearances by Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh, among others, playing fictional versions of themselves.
