After unveiling an intriguing first look, the creators of the web series Showtime, featuring Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, have dropped its much-anticipated trailer. Offering a peek into the show’s narrative, the trailer delves into the internal dynamics and politics of Bollywood, including the perennial discourse on nepotism. Alongside Hashmi, the series stars Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Naseeruddin Shah, and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles.
The trailer unfolds with Emraan Hashmi’s character, Raghu Khanna, the son of a renowned producer portrayed by Naseeruddin Shah, declaring his inheritance of the family studio. Asserting his journey of transforming it into a cinematic powerhouse through sheer hard work, Raghu focuses on creating mainstream Bollywood blockbusters that rake in substantial profits. However, his approach is challenged by journalist Mahika Nandy, who also aspires to carve her niche as a filmmaker.
Showtime, a Hotstar Original, is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on March 8. Created by Sumit Roy, the series is co-directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar and is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic, the digital arm of Dharma Productions.
