Kim Soo Hyun’s damning texts to underage Kim Sae Ron surface: ‘Will have fun all night’

Kim Soo Hyun’s alleged flirty text messages to Kim Sae Ron

The conversations, revealed by Garo Sero Institute on March 28 (KST), dates back to April 2018, when Kim Soo Hyun was 30 and Kim Sae Ron was still a minor. The texts span multiple days in April 2018, showing Soo Hyun’s eagerness to meet Sae Ron and even urging her to cancel her personal plans.

One exchange from April 11 (translated by Koreaboo) shows Kim Soo Hyun suggesting, “Then don’t go home and come to me!” to which Kim Sae Ron allegedly responded, “Right now? Okay.” Another set of messages from April 13 reveals that Kim Soo Hyun was drinking and throwing up, later apologising for being unavailable. The exchange starts in the early hours of the morning when Kim Sae Ron messages Kim Soo Hyun at 2:45 AM, asking, “Hey, where are you? What are you doing? I’m going to sleep.” Hours go by without a response, until 10:55 AM, when Kim Soo Hyun finally replies: “Haha… Yesterday… I… was outside drinking and threw up, then went to sleep, threw up again, got in the car, and threw up again. I just woke up ahaha.”

At 12:13 PM, Kim Sae Ron asks if they should meet that night. Kim Soo Hyun responds in a playful tone, calling her by a pet name, “Saero Nerooooo,” before adding at 1:56 PM, “It seems like we’ll have fun all night… ㅇㅅㅇ… Ahahaha.” The screenshot also revealed an unsent message by Kim Sae Ron that she seemingly typed out of frustration. “Hahahaha yeah, since you’re on leave, you should have fun. But I’m not happy with your last-minute cancellation of our plans and your non-contact all day,” she wrote, and chose to delete this message later. 

The most controversial message came on April 13, when Kim Soo Hyun wrote, “I’m doing laundry! I took off all my clothes! It’s like… (he referenced popular anime dragonball). Some argued that the messages could be interpreted as a normal flirty text, while others found them deeply disturbing, given the Bloodhounds star’s age at the time. On April 16, as Soo Hyun’s military leave was ending, he admitted feeling restless and disorganised. “Hoo, Saero-Neronero, since I’m on vacation, I keep feeling rushed and restless, and I lost track of time. I’m sorry Saero-Nero, and thank you. I’m heading back now via car! I’ll contact you when I get back,” he wrote. 

So far, the actor’s agency, Gold Medalist, has not responded to the latest claims and revelations. However, earlier in the day, they issued a statement addressing accusations made by the late K-pop star Sulli’s brother. He demanded Kim Soo Hyun to clarify the controversy surrounding her scene in the 2017 movie Real, in which he was the lead actor. He questioned why Sulli had to take all the heat from fans after being pressured into doing the scene, especially when a body double was available but ultimately not used.
